Hey there, I just took a look at your work. Nice style goin' on there! I think you do a good job at conveying emotion and feeling with your drawing techniques. One thing I'd critique is your line work, not that it's bad, I'm just nitpicking. Watch your line weight and thickness. In some cases, thick lines are better and give drawings more of a stylized look, but in some cases, portraiture/realism/whatever, too thick of lines, can make the image flat. But, I really enjoy all of your art. :)
Thank you very much :) I entirely agree with you. Just the other day, I noticed that my heavy outlining made my life Drawing sketches like to cartoonish. I’m working on balancing out my shading and line thickness to make my drawings more realistic. Know any artists/blogs I can use as reference?
hey man you have some talent at sketching ! have any advice i can do to enhance my art to look like yours? :)
First, thank you for the compliment :)
As far as advice, all I can say is (as cliche as it is) practice. Like many artists, I was self-taught and I didn’t always have talent. I started drawing crappy DBZ characters and Godzillas on my worksheets in school. Then I just kept drawing. I’d watch gritty anime (Paranoia Agent, Akira) and try and imitate style and form. But the biggest thing is repetition. If you want to get something right, draw it a hundred times, look at it, and find a way to draw it better. References are amazing, even those How-To-Draw books have good insight (start with form/shape/proportion, then do detail). Get a small sketchbook and drawing things you see during the day.
The key is to keep drawing and keep finding inspiration. Don’t be discouraged if you’re not at the level you want to be. All great artists started somewhere :)
